Calzone

Calzone, also known as folded pizza or pizza pocket, is a baked turnover from Italy. As the name folded pizza described, calzone contains the fillings similar o pizza toppings and the skin like the pizza dough. Ham, salami, anchovies, tomatoes, onions, olives and, of course, all kinds of cheeses are common calzone ingredients. Therefore, the differences of the fillings are basically the regional differences of pizza toppings. As for the pizza dough skin, it is common to apply egg wash on the surface of calzone before baking. The crust will be coated with shiny golden crisp, which make calzone a mouth-watering snack you can’t resist.
